Condiguring A Mac Laptop For Exchange Email

You can set up a Mac to connect to a Microsoft Exchange mailbox by using the Mac Mail email client. We have separate guides for setting up a Standard or Advanced mailbox in Mac Mail. Note: Mac Mail allows you to send and receive email using your Microsoft Exchange mailbox but does not give you access to all the Exchange mailbox’s features. Lot of Mac users reported issue with OS X Yosemite mail. Some of the Microsoft Exchange emails are not sync with mail. Mail or content of the mail not appears (blank mail) .
So how to fix this exchange email sync problem?
Solution 1: Rebuild Mailbox

  1. Open Mail app and click the inbox folder.
  2. At the top of the screen, choose Mailbox. Select the :Rebuild” option at the bottom of the dropdown list.
  3. It take some time to rebuild your Mail box depending on size of the exchange mailbox.

Solution 2: Maintain or set 5000 messages per mail.
Microsoft recommends 5000 messages per Exchange mailbox. So set 5000 message per mail. Move the message into other folders.
Solution 3: Disable some settings

  1. In Mail app. go to Preferences -> [Exchange Account] -> Advanced and disable or uncheck the check box “Automatically detect and maintain account settings”.
  2. In Mail app. go to Preferences -> [Exchange Account] -> Outgoing Mail server and select edit SMTP server list from the dropdown -> Advanced. Disable or uncheck “Automatically detect and maintain account settings”.
  3. Restart the Mail app.

If you your want new mails show up timely, under General change the Default from 5 minutes to 1 minute.
Other Fixes:-

  1. Switch on and off automatic discovery (temporary solution).
  2. Delete all exchange account in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Internet Accounts. Quit Mail app. Relaunch Mail app and go to Preferences -> Accounts. With in mail, setup the Exchange account (Not from system Preferences). After you setup mail account, go to Advanced and uncheck “Automatically detect and maintain settings”.

Note: Smarsh Hosted Services support options are limited for Mac Mail since there is no way to open a case with Apple.

To set up Mac Mail:

  1. Open Mac Mail application.
  2. Select Mail > Accounts.
  3. On the Internet Accounts page, select Exchange from the list.
  4. In the nextwindow, fill out all necessary information and click Sign Inwhen done.
    • Name: your name as you want it displayed on emails
    • Email address: your Primary email address
    • Password: your mailbox password

      Note
      : if there is an Autodiscover record for your domain, the server settings will be filled in automatically and you can proceed with adding the account by clicking Done button.
      If not, continue with the following instructions on connecting to the server manually.

  5. On the next page, you will be prompted to type in additional server information.
    • User Name: your mailbox primary email address
    • Internal URL: https://ExchangeProxySetting/EWS/Exchange.asmx
    • External URL: https://ExchangeProxySetting/EWS/Exchange.asmx

      Important: to protect your account information we cannot publish your Server names in public Knowledge Base.

      Administrators can find the Exchange Proxy Setting in CONTROL PANEL under Home > Exchange servers and settings > Exchange Proxy Setting.
      Users can find the server information in My Services. In the E-mail section click the link Configure Email.

  6. If all settings were entered correctly you will see the following page with prompt to select applications you want to use with your Exchange account.
  7. Once you have selected applications, click Done.
    You will see your Exchange account in the Mac Mail Accounts list.
